Match report

Mount vs Wrotham
Mount 144-8 (Frankel 36, Eden 32 Orrock 22no)
Wrotham 103ao (Palmer 4-25, Cox 3-22, Thomas 3-27)
Mount won by 41 runs

A splendid start to the season on a damp, slow wicket. Ilan Frankel and Tom Eden got us off to a good start but after their dismissals we rather stuttered our way to a shower interrupted 144 at tea with Stewart trying to keep the strike during the last few overs, a tactic recognised by the opposition, umpires and spectators if not necessarily by his batting partner! When Wrotham commenced their innings yours truly wrecked the top order with with the aid of two good catches by Ilan. a craft grubber which hit leg stump and a plumb LBW off a slower ball which might have reached the stumps, before craftily avoiding a jug by retiring to the deep at this point. It was then left to the skipper and 'Malinga' to finish them off, although a few lusty blows carried them closer than they should have been.

Nets

Because of the Easter holidays, the nets have not yet been erected but Jerry Lockhart will be at the school on Sunday morning from 10.30am to prepare them an d requests that all Mount members who are available attend to firstly assist in the erection and then participate in a net session. There will also be a session on Sunday 20th. Please do attend if you possibly can. (Unfortunately I cannot.)

A gentle reminder that the new season approaches fast. Would anyone who has not so far advised availability for the first game, away to Wrotham on the 27th please let me know as soon as possible.

Whilst trawling the web I came cross the following on the Wrotham website. Those of you who were there may not wish to be reminded of the game last year but I would be interested to know if anyone can identify the mystery bowler mentioned in the report.
