David Skinner Tournament

Dear Mount Member

Mount have once again been invited to participate in the David Skinner Memorial 7-a-side tournament to be held on SATURDAY September 13th at ELSTED near Midhurst in Sussex.

David was a past President and fine player for Mount before moving away and would regularly return to participate in the Mount President's matches where many of you will have met him.

Sadly, David suffered a heart attack and died whilst supporting England on their last tour to the West Indies. In addition to playing, David was an active supporter of the Lords Taverners and helped raise many thousands of pounds for this very worthwhile charity.

The memorial tournament is now held each year featuring cricket teams with whom David had an association over the years to continue to raise funds for the Lords Taverners. As one of these teams, Mount have been invited and we would like to continue our association with the tournament.

I would be very grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible if you would be able to participate. The tournament commences at about 10.30 and runs throughout the day with the invited teams of 7 a side playing against each other. We need to take a squad of more than 7 as it can be quite tiring for those of us of advancing years.

The cost of the day is £15.00 per player but this includes a commemorative shirt, an all day barbecue and tea.

Please do let me know as soon as possible if you are able to. and would like to, participate in this very worthwhile day.

Many thanks

Cancellation: Mount vs St. Aidan's, Sunday 10th August 2008

Unfortunately due to some late cry offs we have insufficient players available for tomorrow and so have had to call them game off.

Please can you let me know, if you have not already done so, if you are OK for the 17th.

Match report

Mount vs Leigh
Leigh: 234/6 - Palmer 2/20, Williams 2/41
Mount: 154ao - Williams 71, Cox 30*
Lost by 82 Runs

Against a reasonably strong Leigh side with a number of 1st X1 players we out up a reasonable show although being well beaten.

Leigh made what they felt was a generous declaration but set a target which we always felt was slightly too high for us although whilst ged was batting we were in with a chance. However when he fell for 71 (scored out of then the total of 77 I think) any remaining hope vanished.
