2016 Tour Update

Winter winds, can Spring be far behind! As you may know I have bust my hip but, after a successful operation and exercises, I am doing well and will soon be back to full pace and guile.

Accommodation has had to be changed as unfortunately The Hood Arms has gone into receivership, is closed, and will not re-open in time for the tour. However, with help from John and Christine Wilcox I have booked seven twin or double rooms at The Windmill, West Quantoxhead, plus the option of a nearby B& B – all at similar prices to the Hood. The Windmill will also be able to do our Thursday dinner.

Stogumber unfortunately have a Beer Festival during our week and cannot fulfil the fixture. I have however arranged a game with Bagborough, half an hour away, for 2.00 p.m start on Monday – otherwise we are as last year with good sides and pretty grounds.

Anyone who has not confirmed availability please let me know ASAP. For those more flush with the readies there is room at Combe House if you wish to speak direct to Gareth Weed,

A lot to take in, so please do phone if you need further information. It is our thirtieth year, so let’s make it really special. President William Wilcox is coming for two days and Captain Ilan Frankel and Josh are with us all the tour.

Best wishes and keep fit. More news as it becomes available.

Winter Nets Reminder

We had an excellent turn out for a very enjoyable net session last Saturday and the excellent facilities at Southend High School for Boys will be available each Saturday going forward. The sessions are from 2-3pm and cost £3 each. Please let me know if you plan to attend tomorrow so I can advise our hosts of likely numbers.

One point to note is that occasionally the school is used as extra parking for Southend United games and this will be the case tomorrow. I am told by LOSCC that if you let the parking attendants know you are using the school and not attending football, they will direct you to where you should park and no fees will be charged. I would advise arriving a little earlier anyway.

All the best and I hope to see a number of you tomorrow.
