Mike Jackson

It is my sad duty to share with you the news that Mike Jackson passed away this morning. Mike was the longest serving member of Mount making his debut as a player in the early 60s and remained an Honorary Member of the club up until his death. He began a long family association with Mount CC that has been carried on for many years by our President, Simon and his family - wife Ros and children David and Grace. Our thoughts and best wishes are with them at this time.

Many of you will have known Mike very well over the years and will I’m sure will wish to pay your respects. As and when funeral arrangements are made, I will pass these on in accordance with the family’s wishes.

Indoor League Round Up / Alleyn Court Former Pupils Golf Day

A very belated Happy New Year to you all. A couple of items to catch you up on. The team has been battling away in the South Essex Indoor League competition and after a couple of narrow defeats to Leigh II (5 runs) and Civic Centre (8 runs), we rounded off 2019 with our first win in the competition, beating Eastwood by 11 runs. This leaves us mid-table as we approach the halfway point in the season and our next game is against Canewdon and is whatever the cricket equivalent of a “six pointer”. That takes place next Weds 22nd, 7.30 start at WHSB. The boys have more than held their own in our first season and it has proved to be great fun too. Keep it up chaps!

On a separate point, I have been asked to circulate the message below re the Alleyn Court Former Pupils Golf day – if you’re an ACFP and interested in going along get in touch with Anthony Norman as per his message.

Alleyn Court Former Pupils Annual Golf Day – Monday 8th June 2020

After the disappointment of missing out last year due to the torrential rain and flooding, I am writing to let you know that the Alleyn Court Former Pupils Golf Day will be held this year on Monday 8th June, at Thorpe Hall Golf Club, who have looked after us so well in the last few years.

I am pleased to say that the cost will be similar to those quoted last year, though possibly a little more, to take into account the food price rises that have occurred during the past 12 months. I will let you know the exact cost when THGC has confirmed this to me.

It was great to have some wives, girlfriends or ‘significant others’ playing the year before last and they will be most welcome again this year – either as players or accompanying you for the day or possibly just the meals.

I attach the entry form for this year which I should be grateful if you would return to me as soon as possible so we can get an early indication of numbers.

I don’t require any money at this point, but I will be writing again about a month before the event asking for your money! If you have any queries please e-mail me or telephone me on the number below.

I very much look forward to seeing you again on 10th June.

And.......................please pass this e-mail on to any other Alleyn Court Former Pupils who you know – all of whom will be most welcome.
