I think that Mr Nother will be replaced by someone else subject to the Captain speaking with said person.

We have to cry off from last weeks game through lack of numbers so I hope that you will have better luck this coming Sunday.

Please remember that July 6th is the game against the Presidents XI which will commence at 12.00 or as soon as sufficient are assembled.

The President and the Mount captain will be in hard negotiation regarding the make up of the teams and will no doubt be in contact with you all next week regarding the teams and the format of the day.

I am away next week on holiday but look forward to seeing you all on the 6th.

Cancellation: Mount vs Eton House Old Boys, Sunday 22nd June 2008

I am afraid that we have had to cry off from this Sunday's fixture as we cannot raise more than 7 players despite the best efforts of DT and myself.

I have availabilities for most of you for the following Sunday but if you have not advised me please do so.

Also may I remind you that the President's game is on July 6th. Please can you let me know if you are available for that as soon as possible.

I am on holiday from the 29th June for the following week and would like to have an indication of numbers before I go away.

Teamsheet: Mount vs Tendring, Sunday 15th June 2008 @ Crow Lane, Tendring

The ground is in Crow Lane, Tendring and for those of you without SatNav if you type this in to Google Maps you can find out where that is.

The following have been selected:

  1. G Cox
  2. C Barlow
  3. T Hair
  4. S Jackson
  5. S Orrock
  6. R Postlethwaite
  7. D Thomas
  8. G Wilcox
  9. M Wilcox
  10. H Garcia
  11. A N Other

Scorer: C Clement

I had hoped that Ed Jones might be able to take the place of Mr Other but it was not to be although he does hope to join us soon.

There are a couple of new names on the team sheet. Chris Barlow is the cousin of Matthew Bates who plays for Westcliff. He has not played for a while but is keen to restart. Hilton Garcia is very fortunate in that he will be marrying Mark's daughter later in the year but therefore unfortunate in that he will have Mark for a father-in-law. (Just joking Mark). Please make them both welcome.

Match Report

Mount vs Southend
Mount: 195-7 - Williams 83
Southend: 61ao - Hair 4/4, Thomas 3/15
Won by 134 runs

A very good victory against an admittedly below strength Southend side. Never the less Ged batted very well for his 83 on what looked to be a slow wicket although when Southend batted, Terence managed to make it look a bit quicker - perhaps the hot sun had speeded things up during the course of the afternoon- and took 4 wickets including a cracking C&B. DT also managed to hang on to a C&B much to the amusement, sorry amazement, of his team mates and also picked up a couple of other wickets. Despite being heavily beaten, Southend said they enjoyed the game and want to play is again next year.

Teamsheet: Mount vs Southend, Sunday 8th June 2008

The following have been selected:

  1. G Cox
  2. I Frankel
  3. T Hair (Ground)
  4. S Jackson (Ground)
  5. R Palmer
  6. R Postlethwaite (Ground)
  7. A Rafiq
  8. S Russell
  9. D Thomas
  10. M Wilcox
  11. G Williams

Umpire: G Ferguson
Scorer: C Clement

My apologies to Richard Postlethwaite who turned up for ground duty last week having not seen my email advising the match was off.

As I still have most of the ingredients for teas purchased three weeks ago I will organise these again, hopefully we will get a game this week as the sandwiches are getting a bit crispy round the edges and I cannot think what the green filling might be!!

Stewart is delivering keys to me.

Match Report

Mount vs Westcliff
Match again rained off – we tried to switch to Chalkwell Park but the wickets there had not been prepared either because of the weather although I understand that Leigh played on both days!
