Match report: Mount vs Margaretting

Mount: 169ao - Williams 35, Hart 34
Margaretting: 140/9 - Thomson 4/12, Palmer 2/22, Southward 2/30
Drawn

A most enjoyable game despite the showers. Mount batted first and useful contributions from Ged, Paul Hart, Simon Jackson and Richard Postlethwaite helped us to what looked like being a very good score until a late collapse saw us lose our last five wickets for about 5 runs. When Margaretting batted after tea Richard Thomson (making a rare appearance but hopefully becoming less rare in the future) was in fine form with the ball taking 4 of the first five wickets to fall aided by some excellent catching from Ilan who held 4 in total. However a stubborn partnership for the 6th wicket held us up and although we managed to pick up three more wickets towards the end they managed to hang on for the draw.

I am on holiday from today until next Saturday. If you have not already advised me of your availability for the Alleyn Court game on June 20th please can you let me know today or contact Richard Hair after today.

Please remember this game is scheduled to commence ar 12.00 with a break for lunch around 1.30.

The school have most generously said that they will provide lunch and tea for all players and guests free of charge. Many, many thanks to the school for this wonderful gesture.

I know how Fabio Capello feels waiting for news of Gareth Barry's fitness.

If you have not advised me of your availability for the above game and would like to be put on standby in case David fails his fitness test, please let me know

Sadly we had to cancel the game scheduled for May 30th due to lack of players. However on the 23rd Mount entertained Eton House OB's in what turned out to be a splendid game played on the hottest day of the year so far.

Mount batted first and reached a very respectable 223 for 5 wickets thanks to a splendid innings of 162no by Ilan, ably assisted by debutant Jamie west who made 44no. In reply EH had reached 206 for 7 at the close, with Simon Russell, Richard Thompson and Terence Hair picking up 2 wickets each. Thanks go to the Old Boys for supplying another splendid tea. We look forward to seeing them again next season.

FORTCOMING FIXTURES.

Please make a note in your diaries that on June 20th we are playing JWT Wilcox's Alleyn Court XI in a match to celebrate the official opening of the new pavilion and on July 4th it is the annual match against the presidents XI. Both of these games will commence at 12.00 (or thereabouts) with a break for lunch at 1.30 .and will resume once lunch has finished and proceed in the usual manner thereafter with tea being taken at a suitable point.

Following the conclusion of the Presidents game there will also be a barbeque in the evening.

We would like as many members and supporters as possible to join us for both of these games. The Mount team for the Alleyn Court match will be selected as usual but for the Presidents game we will try to ensure that all those who wish to play are included and we hope to play at least 13 a side on this occasion.

Please do let me know if you are able to make either or both of these matches and if you wish to play in them.

Many thanks and regards
