Availabilities: Mount vs Great and Little Warley @ Great Warley, 1300 Start

As you are probably aware we did not have a match last Sunday nor do we have a game on the 30th. I will be on holiday on the 6th and 13th September so I am trying to sort out who is available to play in good time.

If you can let me know if you are available for th 6th and also if possible for the 13th I would be most grateful.

Also if any of you re interested in participating in the 7 a side tournament on September 12th please advise myself or David Thomas. Details of the tournament are once again given below.

David Skinner Memorial 7-a-side tournament

We have once again been invited to participate in the David Skinner Memorial 7 a side tournament to be held on SATURDAY September 12th at Elsted Cricket Club.

David was a former Mount player and an ex president of the club who moved to Surrey some years ago but always maintained a close connection with the Mount. Sadly, a few years he suffered a heart attack and died. David was a keen supporter of the Lord's Taverners and over they years during his lifetime helped to raise considerable sums of money to support this very worthwhile charity. The Memorial 7 a side tournament has been held for the past few years to continue to raise funds in David's memory and involves 6 teams with which David has had connections, including Mount.

If you would be interested in participating in or coming along to support this years event please can you let either myself or David Thomas know as soon as possible. The cost per person is &pound:15.00 which will include a commemorative team shirt, an all day barbecue and some good fun and cricket.

We need to advise the organisers as soon as possible of likely numbers so that they can have the shirts printed in good time.

I look forward to your enthusiastic responses.

Match report

Mount vs Doctors XI
Mount: 231/4 - Frankel 100 ret, Jackson 75
Doctors: 86ao - Southward 3/18, R Hair 2/6
Won by 145 Runs

A very good performance against opposition who wer alittle weaker than they would have liked and who had had to bring in that well known medical man Nigel Havens to make up their numbers. Ilan having been dropped at slip of the first ball he faced, took full advantage of the situation and scored 100 at which point he retired. Simon also batted very well to score his 75.

I of course bowled brilliantly without any luck at all and having softened up the opposition generously made way to allow Paul Southward to clean up, ably assisted by Richard Hair, Lucas Lambert and Jay Collison who each picked up two wickets.

Despite their heavy defeat, the doctor's enjoyed the game which was played in very good spirit.

Match report

Mount vs Leigh
Leigh: 269/7 (40 overs)
Mount 117ao

A rather disappointing result, some poor fielding early allowed Leigh to get away to a flying start with the openers putting on over 150 by the halfway mark. We managed to pull things back in the second half of the innings but the damage had been done, We were never really up with the run rate and lost wickets at regular intervals before a real old fashioned Mount collapse saw the last 5 wickets go down for about the same number of runs in the same number of overs!!
