Just a quick note to remind you that our 6 a side tournament will be held on Sunday at the ACG, with play getting under way as close to 11.30 am as possible. There will be food and drinks available at very reasonable prices throughout as well as a feast of cricket. We would love to see you there to cheer on both the Mount sides as well as our noble opposition.

The winners will pick up the Terence Hair Cup and I hope many of you will come along to lend your support.

While there is no fixture this weekend, I am pleased to provide details of next weekend’s 6 a side tournament.

Mount have 2 sides that will do battle with teams representing Westcliff on Sea CC and Canewdon CC in a “round robin” league format. The top 2 sides will play off in the Final, with the winners lifting the Terence Hair Cup. As holders, Westcliff are sure to bring a good side to defend their title, and tournament debutants, Canewdon, have made no secret of their desire to lift the trophy. Both Mount sides are more than capable of taking the spoils too. It should be a great day’s cricket.

This was a hugely successful day last year and this was largely down to the supporters of all the participating sides coming along to enjoy the day. As last year there will be a barbecue running throughout as well as plenty of liquid refreshments available – beers, ciders, wine and Pimms as well as soft drinks - all at a very reasonable prices.

We would love to see as many of you as possible come along and join us and feel free to bring the family and friends for what promises to be a fantastic day.

I have received the sad news that Barrington Pheloung passed away this week. Barrington was a highly regarded and hugely popular gent, well known to many Mounties and Westcliff CC players and supporters. Barrington’s sons, Anthony and Danny, were due to play for Felsted this weekend. Given the circumstances, and following discussions with Felsted’s skipper, it was agreed that the fixture should be cancelled. I’m sure those of you who knew Barrington and the family, will join me in passing on our deepest sympathies at this time.

There will be cricket at the ACG this weekend with an “intra” club 6 a side match – players/spectators or those just looking for a beer and a catch up are most welcome. We will stock the fridge and may pull out the bbq too. Start time, 1pm.
