Mount CC New Membership Scheme
Mount CC have run a membership & match fee subscription scheme for the last few years, and this has proven to be a great success. The contributions from scheme members have enabled the club to improve facilities all year round, offer free training & net sessions to all, and meet the running costs of the club. Scheme members have in turn benefitted from, in particular:
- No additional match fees.
- Subsidised social events.
As mentioned at the AGM, for 2021 the club wishes to extend and update the scheme and encourages as many of you as possible to sign up to support your club. Unlike many clubs, Mount CC has not charged a membership fee for a number of years – the decision to scrap membership fees was taken largely due to the administrative burden of collecting monies and the resulting lack of parity and consistency in contributions. The scheme benefits both the club, by making the administration and collection of fees easier, and you the members by simplifying the payment process and removing the aggravation of paying fees after every match.
Our outgoing Treasurer, Anita Hair, has done an excellent job of modernising the club’s banking facilities and the collection of match fees and subscriptions is now almost entirely electronic and cash-free. With the administrative burden reduced, this is an excellent opportunity to introduce our new membership scheme.
The new scheme provides 2 options:
Option 1 – Gold Membership - £10 per month/£120 per annum
Gold membership includes: Annual membership fee, all match fees (including regular season plus Indoor League & Tour (as & when applicable), training & nets), plus other benefits/subsidies tba.
Option 2 – Silver Membership - £5 per month/£60 per annum
Silver membership includes: Annual membership fee, training, nets. Match fees will be an additional charge.
The membership year for both options will run from January to December and we urge those of you not already contributing via the existing scheme to select an option and enrol by the end of January. This can be done by setting up a regular payment to the club. The club’s bank details are available on request.
FAQ
Why is the new scheme being brought in now?
Over the last few years, the club has successfully been able to offer more activities throughout the year thanks to your participation. As a consequence, the club’s costs run throughout the entire year and the committee feels that its members’ contributions should be more equitable; the administrative burden of collection is now vastly reduced; we wish to invest in better facilities and equipment for the benefit of all; increasing running costs, and to enable us to mark our upcoming 70th & 75th anniversaries appropriately, for which we would very much like to hear from members for your suggestions.
What facilities is the club looking to invest in?
Following our shared purchase (with AC) of new nets last year, we are considering several options that would enhance the training match day experience for players and spectators. These include new training and match day equipment, pitch covers, a new scoreboard, better seating/weather protection, improved catering facilities/licensing plus others.
Is the club facing financial challenges?
No. The accounts presented at the AGM showed that despite a small loss for the year, the club is liquid and in good health financially. However, we remain ambitious to further improve the club for and with the support of its members.
Is membership compulsory?
No, membership is of course completely optional. But for the reasons mentioned and the ease of set up we strongly encourage as many members as possible (and would hugely appreciate it) if everyone could do their bit to contribute. At the same time, we understand that some may not wish to, or are unable to do so.
Will match fees increase for non-members?
Since this was not proposed and voted on at the recent AGM we see no reason to do so at this time.
Will there be a charge for nets/training for non-members?
We hope that those non-members attending nets etc will appreciate the value offered and become members but as mentioned above, the charging of fees may be necessary.
