Mount CC v Westcliff-on-sea CC - David Thomas Celebration match
Good Morning Mount players, supporters and friends!
As many of you will already know, one of our greatest and longest-serving members, David Thomas, passed away earlier this year. We continue to miss his presence, story telling and eccentricities both on and off the cricket field!
However, we have an opportunity before the end of this season to remember David. The last game of the Mount CC season is on Sunday 17th September against Westcliff at Chalkwell Park, which is fitting for both sides given his many years of service to both clubs.
Both Mount and Westcliff would like to mark this occasion by fielding teams made up of as many people as possible who have played with David over the years (and there are many!). So, whether you are a current, part time, tourist or self-confessed retired player we are inviting you to play a part in the match. We would love to accommodate as many as possible to make the teams as representative of the influence over the years that David made to both clubs, so don't be shy in volunteering to play.
If you are unable to play we would still love to see you at Chalkwell Park to celebrate David's life. I would also like to compile as many stories of David as possible which, ideally, would be available on the day for everyone to see. To achieve that i will need your help. So please send me any stories or anecdotes that i can edit ahead of the game!
RSVP to me as soon as possible so we can make arrangements with Westcliff, including any catering requirements. I will be in touch nearer the match date with further details.
Looking forward to seeing you in September!
